Why I play Harmonica

I started playing harmonica in 8th grade. I wanted to take a sweet harmonica solo in one of the jazz band's blues songs. I cant remember what exactly motivated me to start playing harmonica, but it was most likely extensive listening to songs such as "hook" by Blues Traveler, or "Spokey Dokey" by the Seat Belts. It took me about 3 years to figure out how to play the harmonica correctly, and possibly well. Although, i still have much to learn, especially if you are comparing me to John Popper from Blues Traveler, who is the greatest harmonica player known to man. It is rumored that he sold his soul to satan in return for his god-like harmonica ability.

Here is Spokey Dokey, performed by Nobuo Yagi (i think, possibly ryuichiro senoo) from the Seat Belts. This song demonstrates a full range of the harmonicas awesomeness, and the player has excelent control over the instrument, allowing him to make all of the bends and growls and other sounds you hear throughout the song. Ive probably listened to this song a thousand times, and so far i can play the chorus riff and thats about it.

Here is John Popper taking an awesome harmonica solo on hook, by blues traveler. The song is very good, both in music and lyrics, but the harmonica solo is the finishing blow that unleashes the songs true awesomeness, and made the song a hit.
